What is Profhilo?

Profhilo for Skin Remodeling

Over recent months I had heard more and more about Profhilo and how it was giving great results in improving skin quality. The reports I had read really impressed me, and I am please to say that following completion of training I know offer this treatment at the clinic.

So what is Profhilo?

It is an injectable treatment that contains a high concentration of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) – this is a naturally occurring substance found in our bodies which is responsible for maintaining moisture within our skin. The result is improved skin tone, texture and hydration. Profhilo is especially good at counteracting skin laxity of the face and in areas difficult to treat, such as the neck, chest, hands and arms. Due to having a high concentration of HA Profhilo delivers a prolonged efficacy without the addition of cross-linking chemical agents. Profhilo integrates into the tissue where it restores the levels of hyaluronic acid naturally found in the skin. Clinical data confirm improvements in skin texture, elasticity and hydration with an immediate tightening effect.

What is the difference between Profhilo and Dermal Filler?

Profhilo is a high concentration of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), this makes it primarily a hydrating treatment. The HA disperses evenly throughout the face, giving your skin a more plump and firm look overall. Dermal fillers on the other hand are a more volumising treatment which can be used to enhance specific areas of the face such as lips, cheeks and chin.

What results can I expect from Profhilo?

Profhilo is given as two treatments 4 weeks apart. After the initial course you can expect to see an improvement in skin hydration with a reduction in fine lines and tightening of the skin. The treatment can be repeated after six months where extra repair is desired.

How many treatments are required?

To achieve the best long lasting results, 2 treatments are required. These treatments should be 4 weeks apart. You will see results begin to develop after the first treatment but the best outcomes will be visible 4 weeks after the second treatment.

The treatments are minimally invasive and involve the injection of Profhilo in to 5 specific treatment sites on each side of the face.

Are there any side effects?

Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance and as such if very well tolerated by the body. The only reported side effects are bruising and mild swelling at the injection sites. These generally disappear in a short period of time.
